Vehtra Schoolmate allows parents to track their child’s journey with the help of GPS devices installed in school buses. Parents are able to live-track the current location of the school bus, scheduled time of pick-up/drop, and receive pickup & drop alerts. Additionally, notifications for school work including home work and school events are also provided through the app. The app is very user friendly and requires a one-time registration. Parents have to register from their respective bus stops to get accurate ‘wait times’ (ETA). Please note that in order to effectively use the app to accurately track a school bus and receive notifications you would require a mobile phone with the GPS location feature available as well as mobile data enabled.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING & USING THE SCHOOLMATE APP:
INSTALLATION:
To register & activate your app, please ensure that you activate it at your designated bus stop.
Please ensure that ‘Location’ option is turned ON on your device before you run the app.
Please click ‘Next’, when asked for App access choices. (This will allow the App access to features that enable tracking and related services)
Please click the ‘Install’ button
After installation is complete, the app can be launched from your device by tapping on the SchoolMate App icon
For accurate ETA ‘Location’ has to be ON
REGISTRATION:
Once the App launches, you should see a screen that asks you for your mobile number
Please enter your 10 digit mobile number (registered with your child’s school)
A verification code will be sent via SMS on your number inside 2 minutes of clicking ‘Submit’
Please note that this code will be active for 15 minutes only
Clicking on ‘Submit’ will display a message saying "Success. Dear Parent, thank you for registering with us”.
If the message says "Success. Dear Parent, thank you for registering with us. Please contact the school administration as no route is mapped with your number" or any other error message then please contact the school administration to add your number to the school route.
USE/ SERVICES
The app has 5 options available from the drawer (upper left hand corner of the screen)
1) Bus Tracker: Offers you live tracking for your child’s school bus whenever the respective route is active.
2) Notifications: GPS, homework and other school related notifications for your child. Notifications can be marked as read or as favourites. All notifications are deleted after 7 days unless you mark them as favourites.
3) Update my location: Updates your location to your child’s designated bus stop (if needed). This requires ‘Location’ to be turned ON on your device. This feature should be used at the actual location of the pick-up/drop to accurately capture the geographical co-ordinates of the location and will enable notifications to be delivered accurately. In case of a change in your location, please use this feature to update the pick-up/drop location for your child.
4) Contact School: Provides you with the contact details for the school including phone number, email ID, address and school timings.
5) Change School: In the event of a change in school for your child/children, you could use this feature to keep using the app for live tracking and other notifications.
